Does installing this seal typically greatly increase the amount of torque required to rotate the yoke? I just installed this last night and never removed any of the shims or bearing. Just cinched up the nut snugly with my impact and now I can't feel any backlash when I rotate the yoke. I'm guessing it's just because the new seal is so tight.

It will be tighter because its a new seal but I would also make sure you are shimmed correctly too.

Does the pinon seal come with a wear sleeve?

I have a 1963 International Scout 80 with a Dana 27 front dff. The original pinion seal had a small thin gasket behind it and the seal body looks nothing like the seals that I'm seeing online. None of the usual scout part places seem to carry the gasket AND seal. Do you know if this gasket and seal will fit my 1963 scout? Thank you.
