I have a 1952 M38A1 jeep with a L134 engine and the transfer case has 1 1/8 shaft with no e-brake assemble. My transfer I found has crack in the bottom of the case. Would there still be a core credit for this case

If your case has a crack it wouldnt be a good core. But if you ever did get a good core in we could always refund you later.

What is the difference between D-18 Transfer cases regarding shaft size?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They use different internal gears as well.

If I already have a dana 18 mounted to my Trans. Can I just slide this on to the mainshaft gear and adapter that I already have?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com some more vehicle information to help.

What is the red arrow in the photos indicating? And do you have just the cases available - without internal parts?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Intermediate shaft.

What shaft is measured for chiosing correct case- and is it measured on the splines or threads?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The intermediate shaft diameter. There are no threads on it.

I have a 1951 CJ3A with a leaky transfer case and none of the shift levers will stay in gear and fall back to neutral when moving. I have to bungee cord them into gear to get them to work properly. Is it time for a rebuilt or new transfer case or is this an easier problem to fix?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sounds like it. Your poppet balls and springs and shift forks are for sure worn.

The instructions say to put old case in box to ship back. Do I send the whole transfer case guts and all?, or do I have to disassemble it? Thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The whole case please. You dont need to disassemble.

Does this a M38A1 jeep. I Dont see it listed.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
937477-14 this is for the M38A1.

is the gear from the transmission to the transfer case included in this kit? if not what is that part number? is the total cost $1,174? and then the $100 core rebated back to $1,074?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The mainshaft gear is separate part number: 937339. The core fee is additional but fully refundable. Please see notes above on item description.

I am looking for just a minor overhaul kit with seals, bearings, gaskets, etc. Do you carry that (like you do for the transmission)?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
D18ABSG D18BBSG D18CBSG These are the part numbers for the D18 transfer case minor overhaul kits

Do you offer rebuilt transmissions and transfer cases, or just brand new? What's the price difference if so? My wife towed mine on a uhaul before i could disconnect the drive shaft and melted My tranny at least. Do you think it harmed the transfer case also?

Willys Tech:
It all probably needs to be gone thru. These are all new internals in original cases.

I have a 61 willys pu. now has only front wheel power, no power to the rear. will only move when 4 wheel is engaged.

Willys Tech:
I would check your transfercase. The levers may not be enguaged properly.

Would the transfer case be set up for an M38A1 floor mounted style emergency brake handle, or the type with a dash mounted handle?

Willys Tech:
Typically on the floor.

Could this be used with a Willys MB and if not do you sell one used that I can?

Willys Tech:
We do have them for the 1941-45 MB as well with the 3/4 intermediate shaft. Please call us toll free.

what weight oil is recomended for this application and how often should one change?

Willys Tech:
We typically use 90 weight. We change it out every 5000 miles.

My twin shifters for the hi-lo and front shaft engage are loose. It looks like the holes on the case that hold them are wore out. Do they make a sleave for them or do I need a new tranfer case housing

Willys Tech:
You would have to rebush them. We do have new anti-rattle shift springs part number: A970 and pivot pin part number: A972 those wouldh help.

Is this a small bore or large bore case?

Willys Tech:
We can do either.
