I have a 51 willy's that I want to fix from the bottom up.Convert to disc brakes, new brake lines, wiring and steering. But don't know if the jeep is an M38. Title does not say so. How would I be able to tell? would like to know before I start purchasing any parts. The correct parts. Thank you.

I'm converting my cj2a to an m38 with a 12volt system. Will this cover all the black out lights? And what switches would I use to control the black out lights?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please give us a call to discuss.

I bought this harness for my M38 conversion which head light should I order?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:

Are the wires to the fuel and amp gauges included?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, that is correct.

Can I get this without the turn signal wiring?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, we can do it that way if you like.

I have an M38 manufactured March/1952 that has been retrofitted with an F head. I understand that you can modify this harness to work with this later engine. How do I proceed with this?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The different engine really wouldn't effect the harness at all. So you would be all set. A 4-134 L and F are the same blocks more or less.

Hello, I am working on 42 GPW that was repurposed in 52. It has a 52 M38 engine. I am definitely a novice and understand some of the basics but I have a few questions. 1. Does this 12Volt harness bypass the regulator so I don't have to wire it back in? (essentially does this purely run on 1 12V battery?) 2. Does a 52 M38 generator support a 12V system or does that have to be replaced? 3. Are there any items that have to be replaced to use the 12V system besides the lights? Thank you in advance for your help!!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a 12 volt generator then you would still need a voltage regulator. But if you get our alternator conversion kit part number: ALT12V then it has a built in regulator and you can bypass it.

Where does the AMP's wires go at? Because it says that one goes on the rigth and one on the left, but does not show where exactly..thaths the only thing keeping me from putting it together..thank you...1952 m38 12 volts..

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com a picture of the amp gauge you are currently using and we can help out.

does this wiring harness have circuit breakers/fuses built into the wiring or do i need to add those separate and make my own wires

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They didnt t use circuit breakers in the Willys when running 12 volt. So you would need to wire those in on your end.

does this 12v wiring kit have the military plug and correct wires for the military light switch or does it use the pull out style light switch from a cj3a

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If your 12 volt it is going to have connections for a push/pull style - but you could possibly modify to work with your 3 lever style switch.

im in need of rewiring my 6v 1950 cj3a to 12v but im also in the stages of putting an m38 tub on my frame and converting it to be an m38 jeep so my question is what is the differences between this wiring kit vs a cj3a wiring kit

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The M38 harness in 12 volt and CJ-3A harness are going to be basically identical to one another.

In the 12 v conversion does the harness come with the correct connector for the 3 lever light switch?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would mount a 946613 on the dash for the harness. You can keep the 3-lever switch but it would be just for show since its got 24 volt connections on it.

On my m38 all of the wires are missing and I want to install this harness. I have purchased a 12v starter, distributor, and generator, and I am wondering is there anything else that I will need to make this harness work. For instance, relays fuse blocks, etc. If there is anything else, what are the parts so that I can order them all at once with the harness so that I can knock the wiring out during a weekend. Thanks in advance

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please call and ask for Mike M. I can go thru your questoins and help out.

I have an M38 with an F head from an m38a1 or cj3b. would you recommend purchasing this harness or the m38a1 12 volt harness? Also if i have the original switches on my m38 do i need to buy new switches to convert the system to work on 12 V or will my original switches work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Xris

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, purchase this harness and we'll fix it up. All electrical parts should be changed out once you go from 24 to 12 volts. Thanks

Does this wiring harness come with a schematic or wiring diagram for reference use?

Willys Tech:
Yes, we provide a wiring diagram with this.
