Brake Booster Kit with Vacuum Tank
Fits 41-66 Jeep & Willys

Part # 805220

Remote Brake Booster Kit with Vacuum Tank

Finally additional stopping power for your Willys!!!! Get 2 to almost 3 times the braking power.

Conventional drum brakes generally create sufficient hydraulic pressure to be able to stop a vehicle when the pedal is applied.  But the chief difference and the major advantage of a power booster assisted brake system is the increased force that is exerted by the vacuum booster.

Applying pedal force increases the brake fluid pressure to the booster which closes the vacuum check valve and allows air into the back portion of the booster.  The mechanical pressure plus the air pressure pushing against a vacuum allows pedal travel with much less effort than a conventional hydraulic system. Releasing the pedal opens the vacuum check valve and allows air to be purged from the canister for the next brake application.

A standard drum brake pressure is about 250-300 psi of braking pressure. The addition of the booster can increase this to just under 800 psi of braking pressure.

The addition of the extra vacuum tank is for reserve vacuum which will assist in the operation of the booster and vacuum wipers if so equipped.

We have furnished a remote vacuum tank that will assist in the reserve vacuum for the brake booster as well as more vacuum for the vacuum wipers if your vehicle is so equipped. This should be installed in between the vacuum source and the booster.

What would happen if I do add this to a disc brake set up? I have a LS in a Willys and need most stopping power. Thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
These booster kits are for drum brakes only. But we do sell front and rear disc kits and dual reservoir master cylinder conversion kits too.

using your power brake vacuum booster on the single master cylinder, do I leave the brake light switch on the original position at the end of the master cyl. ,and can I plug one side of the wye fitting in order to route a new line to the booster ? do you have the 3 way fitting block for after the booster in stock ? My local Advance auto parts and O'reilly auto parts can only give me a dumb look when I inquire about brake fittings for a '59 willys. The really sad part is that I can see both places out my dining room windows, totally useless

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can go from there to help you out. Thanks!

Can vacuum off of dual action fuel pump be used with this brake booster?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your better off coming off the carburetor or intake. Included is an extra booster tank as well with the kit.

I have a 1959 CJ-5. Looking to improve breaking power. How does the drum brake booster compare to a front disc conversion.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Both are really good options. Just depends on personal preference. I would say they are comparable.

Will this 1967 CJ-5 4 cylinder?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, it sure will. Thanks

Will this work on a 1970 Jeep with manual brakes and drums front and rear?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, as long as you a drum brakes all the way around and a single reservoir master cylinder.

Mike- Unable to determine physical dimensions from illustration. Assume this booster would be mounted forward of carburetor on inside fender - driver side. Also noted that recommended mounting position is to be away from heat source. Above mounting position would place booster adjacent to exhaust manifold and pipe. Mounting booster on inside fender on passenger side, would require routing brake lines from master cylinder to passenger side and then back again to drivers side. Any suggestions? Best regards - Dave

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
7" diameter booster that is 9" total in depth. Anywhere dry and free from a heat source is good. Alot of people mount on fender or firewall.

I have a 45 cj2a with the original type of drum and master cylinder and would like to better the braking power. My engine compartment is pretty tight and really would like the physical measurements as the booster diameter and total length before I order the kit.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
7" diameter booster that is 9" total in depth. Should have plenty of room on any Willys.

What is the correct new installation of the brake pedal? If you move master cylinder in my 1955 CJ5, does this kit allow for reconnecting the brake pedal? The current master cylinder is below the pedal, all brake boosters I have seen are mounted above the brake pedal.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Anywhere high and dry is recommended. Most people put on firewall or inner fender / frame. You line it in. See install instruction link.

This won't work on my 67 CJ5?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, as long as you have drum brakes both front and rear and a single reservoir master cylinder set up.

I have a 1957 CJ5. Is there a place to find a picture of correct installation and how it attaches to the mater cylinder? From the installation instructions it appears to attach at the front of the master where the brake switch is suppose to be.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You line it into the master cylinder. Mount the booster in a clean area away from heat.

Hello, I am restoring a 1953 CJ-3a. I would like to go to disk brakes on the build. is there a booster setup available that works with your disk brake conversion kit?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No, this booster is for drum / drum brakes only. I dont have a booster kit that is for disc brakes. Really if you use our disc kit they should have good braking power with our disc dual reservoir master cylinder kit.

The diagram and logic seem to fit a single reservoir master cyclinder. I have already upgraded to the dual master cyclinder, should I go back to the single?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This booster kit is for single reservoir drum brakes only.

Is this booster kit compatible with silicon brake fluid?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We typically use Dot 3.

Where is the best place to mount this?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I recommend in the engine compartment away from a heat source.
