is this 6 volt coil made in usa

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No, most coils are not US made anymore.

Does your part #649712 6-volt coil have spade connectors or terminal connections for the primary wire connections? Your pictures accompanying the product description on the internet shows both.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
it will be for an eyelette connection. Basically studs for the positive and neg connections.

Is the housing metal or plastic?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
These are a hard plastic

Hi does this coil have the grounding stud on the bottom

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They didnt use that on the engine mounted coils.

Does this come with any directions on doing the change to engine mount from under dash. My '48 Willys cj2a serial 209392 has it under the dash but it has a dash mounted starter button to the left of the steering wheel and the ignition coil is hanging loose by the key. Modification is difficult because a hydraulic system (for a plow) is mounted in front of the distributor and takes up all available room.

Willys Tech:
You can really mount the coil just about anywhere. I would order the part number: MSD8212 for the mounting.

My M38-A1 with the F 134 engine has a 12 volt electrical system. It still has the points/condenser distributor and a ballast resistor in the ignition circuit. Do I need a 6v or 12v coil to provide a strong enough spark to cylinders?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You'll want to stick with a 12 volt coil. https://www.kaiserwillys.com/replacement-ignition-coil-12-volt-fits-41-71-jeep-willys Thanks

I notice the photos show two different attachment types, does this if I order would I be getting the spade or male posts version? Post is preferred.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They will have the post style connection.

Hi, I have a CJ3A that was converted to a 8 volt. I am putting it back to a 6 volt system. I installed a 6v battery and new 6v regulator and now it will not run right. Do I have to install a new coil too? Thanks, Larry

Willys Tech:
Yes, you should replace the coil as well.
