Questions: I just installed this starter on my 46' CJ2A. When I try to crank it grinds like an un-experienced welder. Is there a recommended shim for this starter? Thanks

You shouldn't grind so you may not have the proper flywheel ring gear in your vehicle at 97 teeth or its worn. Please call us toll free and we can help.

If its a GPW you will have a small 'f' script on the drivers side fender also on the frame as well.

Questions: I have 1955, M38A1 Jeep that was partially converted by a fire dept to a 12 volt ignition system, to include an alternator. The starter is sill on a 24 volt system. I would like to replce the original starter with a 12 volt as well, for ease of use. It takes three batteries to make this system work. One would be much better. Do you have such a starter?
