Is the inner cable greased or does grease need to be added?

What size is the thread on back of the odometer on a M38A1 . I have a new cable that fits the teams but the nut os to big for the odometer . Threads look like 5/8 and the nut looks to be 3/4.

I am replacing my cable on a 1952 M38A1 is there anything else I need to make this work?

We have new speedometers if you like as well. The cable itself is a complete assembly inner and outer.
