If you take a drill motor to the back you can add mileage to it. I think they possibly can be turned by hand too.

Yes, this will fit in the hole in your panel and connect to the speedometer cable as well.

Questions: The speedometer that is original to my 1948 CJ-2A is like this except it does not have "Miles per hour" or the part number written on the face. Do you have these without those markings?

The speedometer cable and gear inside the transfercase are separate.

It goes to the passenger side of the transfercase just forward of the emergency brake drum where you screw it in.

It is cable driven part number: 643797. Its gear driven and doesnt have anything to do with the generator.
