Questions: In my '56 wagon, I have glove box openings on both sides of the dash, one in the "normal" place, and one right in front of the steering column. Does this box fit both openings?

Yes, they will work for both glove box openings.

Questions: Is there any diagram or info on how this is to be installed? I don't see any brackets or mounts behind my glovebox door/under dash to mount this to. Possibly missing something in my '48 station wagon?

I do believe it just screws into place on the lip of the inside of the dash.
