1953 cj3b I have the bendix joint . There is a very long 3 in long bushing in the tube already but this replacement bushing is much shorter. Any advice would be helpful. Next autos there no seat to keep lube from closed knuckle entering the axle tube?
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
There are a few different versions used. You have an inner oil seal and an outer hub seal there on your axle.

Does this bushing drive in outer axle tube or axle spindle? If a Spicer or Rezeppa joint is used this bushing is removed and replaced with the one with the flange on it. What's the part# of bushing your note mentions. when is the a853 bushing use
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It drives into the axle tube. And you're correct about changing out the bushing but one is not needed nor available new. You'd have to get a good used one if you'd like to put one back in.
