Hi, is the surge tank an overflow or expansion type? Does the pressure cap sit on the radiator or the surge tank?

It is for overflow/expansion really. There is a cap ontop the surge tank as well.

Above it says it fits a Cj2a. But on one of the answers you say it isn’t made for a Cj2a. I have a 48 Cj2a and would really like to buy this. Wouldn’t it be a simple modification to the bracket to make it work?

I have a 47 CJ2a, with no overflow tank. Is there a diagram that shows where this would be mounted?

The CJ-2A really doesn't take this part. The brackets could possible be modified to fit though. It just allows any overlfow to go thru the tank and back in. They mount to the front of the grille.

I have a 44 MB military and the engine has been changed to a 4 cyl Jeep overhead engine. I suspect the year is a 48 or 49. The radiator in it now bolts to the frame and is the orininal MB style. What radiator part number do I need to order correctly from Kaiser Willys?

Can a surge tank also be used on a CJ2A? It's not quite the desert here in Louisiana, but sometimes it's pretty close!
