When I changed my oil filter I had an oil leak from around the head of the bolt used to tighten/secure the filter housing. I used a crush washer between the bolt head and the filter cover to finally stop the leak. Is that common if so what do you normally use to stop a leak there.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes a crush washer does go there under that bolt. Our oil canisters come with both a fiber washer and a crush washer. Usually you remove the fiber washer and only use the crush washer.

Can you furnish the dimensions of oil filter part #909335A height , width and center hole ? Thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
4-1/16" tall 3-3/4" wide Paper gasket: OD - 3-7/8" / ID - 3-3/4" Rubber gasket: OD - 4-1/4" / ID - 4-1/8"

Can you explain briefly how the oil circulates thru filter canister? It appears to be different from the canister on my CJ2A. Thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You have a small tube in the center of your canister with a pin hole approx 2/3 the way up it. Oil enters into the canister from the top port, thru the filter and is keeps pressure by going thru the pin hole and down thru tube out the outlet at bottom of canister.

I have a 1955 Willys pickup with the 6-226 engine. It appears to have the original canister filter. Is this the correct filter for that engine? Was there only one type filter canister used on the 226 engine? Thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, this is the correct filter for your Willys Truck and the type used originally.

Thank you for carrying a replacement oil filter cartridge. What brand of filter would've come from the factory originally? 1957 Willys Pickup 6-226 engine.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Originally they were Fram.

What oil and viscosity would you use for an f-head engine. Thank You.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
10W-30 is what we use.

I have a 1943 with a later model f-head engine in it. What oil filter do I need? Thank You

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a civilian canister then I would use this one. If its a military filter then its part number: 119952

What weight oil did L6-226 use?

Willys Tech:
We typically use a 10W-30 oil.

I have a 1958 willys truck. It was swapped with a 1961 283 corvette motor. There is an oil bath canister. Does this filter fit it?

Willys Tech:
If you have the original Willys oil filter canister then yes this will work.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE OIL FILTER AND DO YOU CHANGE THE CARTRIDGE BY ITSELF OR THE CANISTER TOO?

Willys Tech:
I would change the oil every 3000 miles for older motors. Just the filter needs to be changed.
