Questions: Does this need to be lubed? If so, what to use? I installed new complete unit without lubing it and speedometer spins erratically. I did test the speedometer with cordless drill and it works fine. The little gear in the transmission end looks good.(not worn or chipped) What else can I check before disassembling the cable .

I do believe the book calls for light duty oil to be used. I will double check. Thanks!

CJ-5's were never 2x4. Sounds like you have a DJ. This speedometer will only be for the vehicles listed above.

Questions: I would like to know the overall length of this cable. I am working on a Kaiser car that uses a cable exactly like this one but I just want to verify. Mine is about 72. Thanks.

These are approx 64 like original.
