Can I use a regular distributor cap for annual tuneups or is there a unique cap for the solid state distributor? Thank you!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You need the correct one but we can help. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com or call us toll free.

What kind and value of resistor do you recommend for a 134F engine?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would use coil: 933160 it has a built resistor but we also have: 938987 resistor too separate.

When changing from stock to this distributor what spark plugs are recommended, and is the gap wider?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
804492 and the gap stays the same. Thanks!

Do I need to use HEI spark plug wires with this distributor?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No you do not.

I have a CJ2A 46’. The spark plugs are not getting a spark. I have volts at the ignition coil and distributor. I received the Jeep not running with a 12v battery hooked up. Is it possible the distributor is fried?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Most likely. See part numbers: 906725 or 923068 to fix you up.

I have a 1960 Willys Station Wagon that I wish to convert to electronic ignition. First, is this vehicle 12v? How do I find this out?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The part you are looking for is 17239.08

the pick up inside the electronic distributor can be adjusted what is the clearance is it 0.20 on feeler gauge?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
.020 on the gap

I purchased your electronic distributor for my +12v converted 1962 M38A1 F-head a year or two ago and now it appears it has no spark output to the plugs. Do you sell replacement electronic modules?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I can help you troubleshoot. Sometimes you find its a coil issue. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com Happy to help.

Do you have a new link to the install guide for this distributor? item # 923068. the link says it is outdated.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech.:
They are working on fixing. Email jason@kaiserwillys.com in the mean time and we can send over to you.

Hi - I purchased the solid state distributor assembly (Item # 923068) years back and am currently having a problem where it appears I am only getting spark on the 1 and 3 wires. I was thinking of replacing the rotor but don't think that would manifest like this. Before I try a new distributor assembly do you think its possible that one of the electronic components is bad and could cause this? It's a 12 volt 1952 M38A1. It had been working prior to this past year. Thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It may just need adjustment. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com to help out.

I have lost fire to plugs and also coming from the coil, have bought a new coil and still no fire out of the coil going to distributor could I have a problem with the electronic parts in the distributor

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have lost power at the coil that has to be addressed for the distributor to work. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com We are happy to help out.

Do you have an electronic distributor for 24 volt?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, nobody does. But see part number: 7358569

I purchased the 923068 Electronic Distributor for my F-134. It will not seat all the way down into the motor, it stops about 1/4' short. I rotate the rotor and it spins freely not touching the slot at the bottom that it needs to align with. I can see slight scuff marks on the end edge of the guide shaft at the bottom of the distributor cup. It seems to be catching on something in the mounting sleeve. Using my finger, I can feel a small indent about the same distance down the mounting sleeve (maybe for an oval oil seal) that its catching on. Any ideas?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Make sure your old spring clip at the end of the shaft is still not stuck down there. Also the key slot can be tight so sometimes we will take a fine file to fit into the groove on the oil pump.

What is up with the brass plate on the bottom of the distributor? I can't get the distributor to seat fully in the oil pump.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The tooth is offset on the shaft to fit into the notch on your oil pump.

what coil to use i have a 3 ohm pertronic is that ok or is it too strong?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
See part number: 933160

I bought one of these a couple years ago, works great! Broke one of the cap clips. Are there replacements available?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Happy to help. Call us toll free and we can fix you up.

I just bought a new distrubtor for my 1953 Willys.it didnot come with instalation instructions how do i get some.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
See the item description - there is a link to them there too.

I bought this and it is 180 degrees different from my stock distributor.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You would just need to re-time. An easy way is to just move your cables.

I just finished installing this. the hardest part was getting the old distributor out. I review all the other questions looking for one about how to re-time the engine. I looked online for youtube videos. I can't find anything. Do you have any information about how to reset the timing? The engine runs, but I don't know if the timing is right or not. Thanks ~P

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can send over a spec sheet for you of how to do.

solidstate for 6 volt yet or in the future ??? very needed item

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
906725 points style is what you have to go with on a 6 volt system.

We have a 47 cj2a that was converted to a 12 v system and a studebaker flat head 6 engine in it. Will this work on that engine?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Youll need to put a distributor on there for that unoriginal engine.

Will my old school tach work with this distributor

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They never originally used a tachometer on any Willys.

If I order Item # 923068 to an M38 -52. What coil should I order? What cables should I use since original is waterproof? Or can they still be used? And how do I connect the coil since I still have the original distributor and coil is inside it? But all is now somehow converted to 12 volt. What Spark plugs on a M38 should I use when its 12 volt ignition? Any difference on the cables that will be used? For information! I have the jeep not yet and cannot say and know all about it.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
933160 is the coil with this distributor and the cables are 930457. The 923068 takes place of your old distributor all together since you are 12 volt now.

I bought this and it is 180 degrees different from my stock distributor. It backfires heavily through the intake by just moving the wires around. Can I return it or do I need to change how the oil pump is orientated?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Give us a call toll free at 888-648-4923 and we can get you fixed up. Thanks

Do you sell the small black box that the wires hook up to in this distributor? I believe mine no longer works. I have power going to the distributor but it doesn’t produce spark.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your probably looking at your external ballast resistor. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com to help.

is this fixed timing or does it advance electronically??

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Electronic advance.

Have a '61 CJ with electronic distributor. Engine does not run. No spark. Coil tests good. Power to the internally resister coil is present. Module test good Pick up is triggering wile cranking. Still not fireing. What am I missing?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would confirm you have spark out the cables and check your timing. You can email mike@kaiserwillys.com to help out. Thanks!

got a skip in '50 cj3a l134 w/electronic dist . thinkin it may be cap and rotor ? new plugs are installed still skip your expert thoughts pleasee Dave Diauto, lynnville tn

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I would try advancing the timing just a bit. Email mike@kaiserwillys.com

Will this distributor work with the 12volt coil 933160 I already purchase from you.Do I just plug the old vacuum line.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, that is correct. They are compatible parts.

does the solid state distributor for the 1967 4-134f have centrifugal advance? How do you add vacuum advance? thx

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
No, it is electronic and it doesnt need a vacuum advance.

Do you have the electronics available for conversion or do I need to buy the whole distributor? I would really like to keep the original for looks.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You have to get complete unit as shown.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You will need to get this complete distributor and they are very similar to original.
Willys Tech:
They are only availble in complete distributors.

What type of coil can be used? If coil requires a ballast resistor, do the internal electronics replace the resistor or do I still need to use it? Do I remove the stock condenser?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We recommend 933160 coil that we sell. You can use either style of coil though. See our install instruction link above.
Willys Tech:
You want to use an internal resist coil. But you can use an external resist coil. The instructions come complete with how to wire up either. It is very simple to do.

I have one of these distributors on my 56 with a f134 engine. It stopped running and I found it has no spark. I had the coil tested and it’s fine so I bought a new control module and it still doesn’t have spark. Do you know what could be the problem

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com and we can help out on the issue.

electronic dist for flat head cj2 ,, not getting spark ,, hot to coil both sides coil ,,what steps test parts in dist

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you can call and ask for Mike M. We can help you and find a solution.

I recently bought a 62 CJ-5 with this distributor installed. I had a huge misfire problem. In fact, it blew my muffler completely out. The vehicle will crank but not fire now. I spark checked the coil wire and spark plugs wires and got nothing. Ohms checked the Standard UC-12 (external resistor required) ignition coil. Checked good (1.8 ohms) on primary and was open on the secondary circuit. I would like to check the pickup coil in the distributor itself but have no specs/values to go by. Do you know what the values of the pickup coil would be?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you can call us toll free. We can try to help you out with this. Ask for Mike M.

Will this fit a 1961 FC 150 and if so what are the necessary parts needed to complete the installation; a list of parts to order?

i am working installing this new Distributor, but it wants to stop about 3/4 of an inch from going all the way in ,am i missing something ?

Hi, I have a Pertronics flamethrower 40511, coil 3 ohm ,supposedly for 4 and 6 cylinder engines. my engine is a 134L 1949. I bought this distributor a little bit ago and and now getting ready to start the motor. my question is ...any problems with this ??does it need a ballast resistor still .I have heard a few stories about the higher end voltage being too much for this distributor...any truth to that? thanks for any input you may have. thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, I don't carry Pertronix. I recommend contacting the manufacture direct.

Does this distributor assembly come with (or need?) the spring that goes on the end of the shaft where it fits into the oil pump?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It does not come with it. I have seen it used with and without it.

What spark plug wire kit is needed for this direct replacement electronic ignition distributor?

I have a 46 CJ-2A 12 volt system now, what will have to change from the old to this new electronic ignition?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You need new coil, fuel gauge, bulbs, ect. Your alternator typically has built in regulator.

Your existing 12 volt system will be ready to go for this distributor. All you have to do is wire up per the instructions above.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your coil, regulator, generator, fuel gauge, bulbs. We can help with all of this.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This is pretty much it. Make sure your coil and voltage regulator as well as fuel gauge and generator are all 12 volt.

Will this fit a 1961 FJ3A with a 134ci 4 cylinder? My original distributor has a vacuum advance and this one appears not to have that. The guts are missing from my original including the points plate where the advance connects or I would simply add a Pertronix conversion. Let me know if this will work. Thank you!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I don't think the pertronix will fit it. You would need this complete distributor assembly.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Give us a call toll free. There will be a few things we need to ask and go over.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes this fits all 4-134 engines in 12 volt.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes on the .030 gap. And please give us a call toll free and we can go over your other question: 888-648-4923. Thanks!
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The stock spark plug should be fine with it. Yes, .020 gap.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
These don't use a points set in the distributor. We typically run the same plug part number: 804492

what kind of resistor do I need to use when installing this dis.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
933160 is what I recommend. Its built in.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
We offer a coil with an interior resistor in it. 933160.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
933160 is the proper coil with built in resistor.

My distributor only has 1 wire, from the neg side of the coil to the distributor. Positive on the coil is from the key. No resistor. Electronic dist. wiring would then be ign--> resistor--> +coil --> +dist . Then dist neg --> coil neg ? 12v.

Give us a call toll free at 888-648-4923 and we can help you. Thanks!

I have a points distributor on my 52 m38a1. It has a 12 volt system. If I replace it with the electronic distributor will I need to change anything else along with it to make it run.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Make sure spark plugs, cable, coil, bulbs. starter, generator, ect are all 12 volt.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:

how do I know what kind of coil do I have? In other words, how do I know if I need an external resistor in series with the coil or the coil I have already has the internal reistor?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
See if you have an external one wired in between the coil and ignition switch. Follow the wire. Your coil is usually stamped too.
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Your coil is typically marked. Otherwise see if a resistor is wired inline to it and then you will know.
Willys Tech:
They are usually stamped on the coil.

Does this work with the existing coil?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, as long as you have a 12 volt system. Thanks!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:

Willys Tech:
You will just need to time it off top dead center on number one piston, then follow the firing order.

No they do not need it in the solid state. Just run your vacuum off the manifold.

No, the vacuum advance is not needed for this distributor nor is it accepted. The solid state distributor uses centrifugal advance which does away with the vacuum advance. Thanks!
Willys Tech:
