Questions: Can an intermediate shaft gear with a 34 x 21 tooth count be swapped with 39 x 18. I have a 53 CJ3A and purchased a used transfer case from a 47 CJ2A that according to the charts should be compatible. When I received the used case, ordered unseen, the tooth count is different on the gears. I'm wondering if the transfer case in my 53 has been previously changed out. Any suggestions?

You need to stick with the proper gears for the shaft size on your intermediate. They do not interchange.
