I have an M38 and bought a new sector shaft. When I installed and torqued the original Pittmann arm, it only engaged 1/2 of the indexing grooves leaving no room for a lock washer with adequate nut threads. Any suggestions?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They have to go on very tight. Please give us a call toll free to help out.

What do you recommend for end play on a new sector shaft with a new worm on an M38?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I dont think the book really gives a spec on that. Your sector shaft and bushings should be tight in there with little to no slop.

i have a sector shaft stamped ta124999. is kit number 804533k the correct replacement ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email some more vehicle information and we can go from there to help out.

Do I need to ream the bushings once they are installed?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, that is correct.

Am rebuilding my steering box on a 1952 Willys Truck. My box has a 15/16" sector shaft with 1 1/2" pin centers. I suppose, in the past, someone swapped in a M-38 box??? Can you tell me the overall length of this sector shaft? WHAT I HAVE BOX # TA1303200 COVER # TA125999 SECTOR # TA124999 MY SECTOR IS 7 1/4" OVERALL-BUTTON TO END OF THREAD. THANKS MUCH!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The overall length is 6-7/8" for the M38

Hi. I' m french customer. Can you tell me what is the external diameter of the bushings please. I buy two bushing but i can assemble it without tool. Thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I do believe this is an .075" thick bushing

I received my steering sector kit for my gear box the long bushing has no hole for oil passage do I need to drill it.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They are a self lubricating bushing.

upon disassembly I noticed, underneath the lower bearing there is a "cap" on the bottom of the steering box with a hole in the center from my understanding that is for the horn wires. inside the shaft the horn rod is still there. im not concerned with running a horn however is there a seal that will keep the oil from leaking out of that bottom cover hole? how do I remove this "cap" and do you have a replacement? originally it had grease in it so leaking was not an issue, however upon rebuild id like to run oil.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You need to use a freeze plug on. Or we can get you a good used one.

best way to remove old bushings? I cant get mine to budge

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You will want to take a socket the same size the bushing and press it out in a vise.

Can you tell me the pin to pin dimension of the sector shaft pins?

Willys Tech:
1-1/2 center to center like original.

Do you sell the gasket for the steering box cover?

Willys Tech:
I would just use some gasket sealant for that.

Will this shaft fit my cj5 with buick v6 1967, or what will thanks

Willys Tech:
The V6-225 gear boxes take a different one. We have the bushings and oil seals for that one.

Do you have the washer and nut for the shaft end?

Willys Tech:

Willys Tech:

Will the15/16 sector fit the 1955 m38a1
