Are the bed rail caps blue as pictured or do they come in black ? Is it likely that moisture will get into the bed rails or tailgate upper tube/rail with either the plastic or pewter caps ? We live in Hawaii and rust is a major concern. Do you have any ideas what could be put into the rails before the caps to prevent or limit rust buildup?

They are plastic and a paintable blue color. You should be able to use an anti rust on the rail and then a rustoleum paint.
