Where does it mount on an m38a1 fuel pump?( AC 4260)

There is a vent port just below the upper chamber on the fender side of the fuel pump.

Is this check valve necessary for the M38 or is it recommended

Will this take the place of part of the vac system and does it mount in the fuel pump?

It really doesn't involve the vacuum per se. If your engine needs additional air flow for the fuel/air mixture - it allows it in but not out. Ensures a proper fuel delivery system. It screws into your original pump.
