If your going to 12 volt then yes the coil and battery will both need to be 12 volt. This alternator kit has a built in regulator.

They didnt make CJ-2A in 1942. Email or call us toll free and we can help you ID your Willys. The sending unit works on resistance so it functions on both 6 and 12 volt. The gauge in the dash will need to be 12 volt.

Your original belt will work just fine. You do need to reuse your old lower mounting bracket at the block and the shoulder bolts/bushings with our lower bracket.

Yes, you need to reuse your old upper mount bracket. Your original lower bracket on the block must be reused to with the adjustable one we provide as well. We do sell both brackets as well if yours are missing.

Not sure what you mean by 3.7 but yes this is the correct alternator kit in 12 volt for either the 4-134 or 6-226 engines.

If your 1961 you are probably a 12 volt. Just check out the tags on your generator, coil, voltage regulator, bulbs ect and they will tell you.

It is a simple chaning of the ends of your wires that exist to plug into the alternator kit. Please see the detailed instructions above. Im sure it could be painted yes.
