Would you recommend this over a sealed bearing? https://www.kaiserwillys.com/category/transmission/t-90-transmission/front-sealed-transmission-main-drive-gear-bearing-fits-46-71-jeep-willys-with-t-90-transmission

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You have to have 640422 installed for the seal to work v. the felt seal.

I was reading the question about the Neoprene oil seal, and in your answer you said don't put the felt oil seal in dry. My question is if you order the aftermarket front bearing retainer do you have to use the neoprene oil seal and the felt oil seal together?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You cant use both. You have to use one or the other.

For the front transmission oil seal, when you place it in the retainer, which direction should it face. Should the open side be placed face down or the other way around?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I usually put the black faced side towads the transmission. However i dont think this really matters. It is a compression seal. The main thing is to not put the felt seal in dry.
