Does this come with wires as well or would that be a separate purchase? If so can you provide the part number for the wiring?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
The wires would be separate. You would wire your existing harness into this.

I believe it's been 2 years ago that I purchased this sending unit. I now shows full all the time. How do I test to see if the sending unit is not working correctly? Or if it's now the gauge?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
An Ohm's reader will tell you if it is functioning correctly.

Does this unit come with everything I need to hook it up to my speedometer (wires)?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You would just run your existing wire to it.

how many ohms is this sender?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
8-1/2 - 10-1/2" FULL 70-80 EMPTY like original

I am looking to purchase the "FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT (6 HOLE STYLE SENDING UNIT) FITS 55-66 CJ-3B, 5, 6 Item # 914850". This is for my 1965 CJ5 with a 10-gallon tank. Could you tell me the ohm range this unit needs to work with my gauge? Thank you, Oscar

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
8-1/2 - 10-1/2" FULL 70-80 EMPTY

does it matter what direction sending unit is mounted in tank ?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Typically they only go in one way due to spacing of holes.

I have a 1967 Jeepster Convertible with the 225 V6. Several years ago, I replaced the fuel tank with one from a Commando from the same year. I believe the tanks are identical with the exception of one exterior mounting tab. Which sending unit, gasket, and return line do I need?

Willys Tech:
914849A is the part number you need.

Can you tell me the hole spacing for the 6 bolt holes please?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com the exact measurement you are looking for. Hole to hole next to each other or across from one another.

Hello, my jeep is 6 volts positive ground. will this gauge work on my circuit? thank you. mike.A

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com what vehicle you have and we can help. These work on resistance so they function for both 6 and 12 volt.

will the 640763-12v fuel gage work with the 914850 sending unit?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, this should work.

Will this fit a 1961 Will's truck? If not do you carry one that does? Thanks

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
914849 is what you want for your Willys Truck.

I just installed one of these with a new gauge. I did get the correct ohms. But the gauge shows it full all the time. Any hints?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:

Sorry, one last question before buy, (Im taking the parts overseas) this parts are for enginge 641087-L-W5 A-NI-CR-N2 CC? Thank you and Im sorry for so many question.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a 4-134 L head gear driven engine then it is correct.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
73 E 10 F

I recently purchased your 6 volt gauge 640763 for use in my '34 Ford. I now realize that my current new fuel sending unit has the wrong resistance range for this gauge. From your web site I have learned that this sending unit is recommended for tanks with 6 bolt holes. Before I throw more money on this project would you please tell me what bolt circle diameter does this unit have.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Please call us toll free and we can try to help you out with all of this.

I am looking for a sending unit for a 1970 CJ5. The tank is under the drivers seat. It has a 12 volt system. Is this the part I need?

WIllys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes this would be correct for you if you are a 6 hole style tank or part number: 948696 if your lock tab style.

I have a 1946 CJ-2A. The underseat fuel tank has 6 holes instead of the 5 holes shown for a CJ-2A fuel sender. Will this one work?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
That would be an unoriginal tank then in your CJ-2a. Please email mike@kaiserwillys.com some pictures and we can help you ID what you need.

I am switching from an old under seat tank with the locking ring type sending unit to the new tank with 6 bolt sending unit. I have dual tanks (under seat and rear). Does this unit have two gas line hookups like the old style? It is unclear in the pictures.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
This is a sending unit only for the gauge. It does not have a return line.

Can you get axle id tags for RZEPPA joint axles?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Sorry, I don't believe anyone makes Dana 25/27 ID tags new.

Have older Willys truck; Probably going to HAVE to replace gauge in dash.. but want to install (build) a set of fuel tanks and will need senders. What concerns me here is if these senders will be compatible. More specifically, WHAT is the resistance range .. spec.. of these senders? Empty... and Full readings ? Im well versed in electronic theory... so let it roll!!

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Willys Truck are 8-10 Full and 70-80 Empty CJ-5 is 7-9 Full and 130-140 Empty

Will this work on my 1959 FC 170?

Willys Tech:
If you are 6 hole sending unit then it should.

I have a 1957 Willys CJ5 - I recently bought a Omix-ADA speedometer from you for it that includes the temp and fuel gauges built in...will this sending unit work with the required specs to activate the gauge (ohms etc...) also i would assume that the single white wire that hooks up to the speedometer is all i need to ensure functionality right? I appreciate your assistance!

Willys Tech:
Yes they are compatible with one another. See 914845 part number for the wiring diagram. Yes just one wire goes to this sending unit.

Will this sending unit work with an aftermarket gauge?

Willys Tech:
Yes as long as the ohms is correct on it.

Im confused on how to hook up, should the positive wire be hooked to the top of the sending unit to get it to read at the gauge or the negative wire. Thanks, Tim

Willys Tech:
You should have it connected to the 's' post on your gauge.

Does this include the line that runs into the fuel tank and picks up the fuel?? I have a 62cj5 with mechanical fuel pump on a different motor

Willys Tech:
That is part of the wiring harness itself.

Is there a replacement float for this sending unit? Mine cracked where the wire wraps around it.

Willys Tech:
17729.01 is the part number for the float.

Have an M38A1 that has been converted to 12 volts, will this be an exact replacemnt the stock 24Volt fuel sender

Willys Tech:
The M38A1 has a five hole sending unit. The one for the CJ-5 is a six hole sending unit. I would use part number: 640694 if you are 12 volt for a M38A1.

do you know what the ohms (resistance)reading is for this sender?

Willys Tech:
8-10 Full and 70-80 Empty

I currently have a reproduction gauge cluster on my 62 CJ5 that doesn't work with the factory sending unit. Will this sending unit work with the reproduction gauge?

Willys Tech:
Yes this is the proper sending unit for a CJ-5
