Will this gauge work with a 6 volt generator in a 1950 jeepster?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes, this is set up for 6 volt. it is a 2" round gauge for mounting.

Do you have any info on original p/n's? I have 0-15 VOLTS DC meter with p/n 1500596. It's a 2inch with 4 light slots, and olive wrap paint. It is old. Can you identify? thanks. ED

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
That isnt a good part number for me. If you can though email an image of what you have there to mike@kaiserwillys.com and I can try to help. Thanks!

I am looking for gauges for an m38 I am restoring which will be 12 volt. I am looking for gauges that have light slots around the sides like original so I can use original dash lights

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a 12 volt system, the only gauges available are the ones for the CJ dash which always used a dash light for the gauges. The gauges themselves were never individually lightened. Thanks

I read on a blog about the willys ammeter that the lead from battery (starter) to the ammeter should be an 8 gage wire. Correct? With a 12 volt alternator that has a built in regulator, would a voltmeter be better?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
If you have a alternator instead of a generator you should have a voltmeter on there instead.

What is the diameter of the guage?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
These are 2" like original for your Willys.

Will this work for a 66 wagoneer?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I'm sure you can modify it to fit and work but it is a different gauge than what was used on it originally. Thanks

I have a cj2a that I am restoring. The old guages are fine and were working. The new wiring harness that I purchased from you is excellent but!! The directions with the diagram state that wires be either on the left or right terminal. How do I determine right and left? When the amp meter is in the dash and I am under connecting, as I look at the back of the amp meter is the left terminal the correct one(the terminal toward the passenger side of the vehicle?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It is as you look at the back of the gauge with the posts towards your chest.

what diameter is this ammeter

Willys Tech:
They are 2 guages like original.

how do you wire in this amp gauge. I have a 1948 cj2a that has been switched to 12 volt and has an alternator

Willys Tech:
The back posts are all marked for easy wiring.

Does this guage come with a light or can it be added?

Willys Tech:
They originally used a external dash light on these vehicles. We sell them.

If an amp meter is connected to a battery without a disconnect, or without any other drain, would the battery run down?

Willys Tech:
I dont believe so but will have to check.

any reason this will not work with 66 cj5? what is the diameter of gauge?

Willys Tech:
Im sure it would work fine in your CJ-5. It is a 2 gauge like original for the years listed.

This 49 CJ3A has been converted to 12 with an alternator. Will this work, or do I need a voltage gauge?

Willys Tech:
This should work ok depending but you would have to check with the manufacter of the type of alternator.
