Will this alternator charge the battery at idle ?

Yes to a point. But the charging is directly tied to the movement of the vehicle (speed)

I have a 1942 MB converted to 12 volts if i use this alternator do i have to purchase a different belt than the one used for the generator? Is there a 12 volt generator available?

When asked, you indicated that the resistance of the yellow wire was 0.5 ohms. The measured resistance of the yellow wire in the kit you sent to me was measured at 500 ohms. Should I be concerned about having the correct resistance in my yellow wire? Thanks.

Hi! What's the warranty for the Alternator??

I am using the ammeter connection. I have a line coming out of BAT connector on the alternator through the ammeter and then back to the battery connection of the solenoid. The battery is not getting charged and keeps draining. What is the best way to test the alternator is even charging? Should I, can I hook up the voltmeter in conjunction? Thanks! ~P.

I have a 1942 Willys CJ2a that I would like to change from a 6V to 12 volt system. Do I need to change the sending unit for the fuel tank? Also, do I need to change the old coil? Do you sell these items? Thanks

They didnt make CJ-2A in 1942. Email or call us toll free and we can help you ID your Willys. The sending unit works on resistance so it functions on both 6 and 12 volt. The gauge in the dash will need to be 12 volt.

This is a desirable conversion so I can run a winch. With this conversion, what else do I need to convert? Light bulbs, starter, fuel sending unit, ignition parts? Change the wiring harness is probably advisable since the 6v harness is old but it should handle 12v fine, correct? Please advise what else will need to be converted. Thanks!

It has a built in regulator. So your coil, applicable gauges, bulbs will need to be changed.

My new 12V conversion alternator came with a narrow groove pulley, not compatible with the wider pulley grooves on my 1944 MB... Can you send the proper width pulley? order 100013388, Oct 2016 installation is just now being affected

I have a '62 cj6 with a plow. The factory PLO or hydraulic unit that lifts the plow has a bracket that attaches around the generator which secures the unit in place.The hydraulic unit sits on top of the generator. Will your conversion work with my application. Do you sell any conversion kit that will work in my application.

We have not tried to use these kits with this set up. I'm sure it could be modified to work for you though.

I bought this kit and installed it last year. I have only run the jeep for a few hours (maybe 2-4) since and I noticed that my alternator is no longer charging. I checked al fuses/breakers first and then disconnected it from the battery, with the engine running it is producing 0 volts. Do you have a warrantee program?

The description says this alternator runs at 100 - 105 amps, however the ammeter (even new ones you sell) only go up to 50 amps. Will this over load the ammeter?

I have a 1960 CJ5, and am updating the distributor and ignition switch, and alternator, do i need to install a fuse box?? Do i need to purchase a different wiring harness?? What is the blue wire on the diagram of installing the distributor??? Thanks for your help. Chad

Are these easy to install without special tools, or do i need to order additional parts to secure to seat frame.

Your original belt will work just fine. You do need to reuse your old lower mounting bracket at the block and the shoulder bolts/bushings with our lower bracket.

I see what looks like only the lower mounting bracket. Will this allow the existing upper tension bracket still to be used? Does the lower mounting bracket bolt to the existing generator bracket?

Yes, you need to reuse your old upper mount bracket. Your original lower bracket on the block must be reused to with the adjustable one we provide as well. We do sell both brackets as well if yours are missing.

It is a simple chaning of the ends of your wires that exist to plug into the alternator kit. Please see the detailed instructions above. Im sure it could be painted yes.

does the 12v conversion require different distributor/points configuration?

Willys Tech:
No your old points syle distributor works just fine on 6 or 12 volt. We also have solid state distributors as well.

Do you sell a ammeter that will accomidate the new alternator. The ALT12V Install Instructions recommend removing the original ammeter and installing a voltmeter, is that necessary? Do you sell that voltmeter that will work? There are several wires that run through the ammeter do you have wireing instructions for the change?

Some people replace it some dont. People seem to have a pretty easy time finding the replacement gauge locally.

I'm converting a m38a1 to 12v,it has double grooved pulley,does kit come with double grooved pulley and are belts included?
