Oil Pan Gasket Set with Rope Rear Main Seal Kit

hey guys - how in the heck do you replace the oil pan gasket on 2-226. does that aluminum plate bolted to the block come off. I removed 2 hex head screws on the back one but it will not come off. any suggestions on both front and back
