Does the shield work with a Solex carburetor, and is there any noticeable improvement in performance.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
Yes it will work for the solex for the L head. Its a heat shield so you probably wont "notice" a difference but your fuel will be better protected from heat from the manifold.

My Carter WO is currently mounted on top of the thick gasket (A5367, with the "V"), to the intake manifold. Should this heat shield mount above the intake gasket, and then the Carter carb on top of the heat shield? Would like to understand the correct way to install.

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
You would install the shield then the gasket then the carburetor.

Which way does it mount? Would this shield help prevent vapour lock? Were these heat deflector shields originally on a 1947 Cj2a Go Devil engine?

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
They were not an original part, but it is a part used to enhance performance. The raised shield portion would go towards the block.
