I'm not sure I understand the deal with the primer handle. Would this have helped me when I had trouble starting my cj5 after it ran out of gas?

The hand primer is used to pump gas up to the carburetor before initially starting. It makes it easy for a cold start where the engine has to turn in order to push fuel up the line to the carb.

The current fuel pump on my 1947 CJ-2A looks like this except for the primer switch, will this one work? I cant find the one in your catalog with the screen filter like the one I have now.
