Do I need to use a primer, or can this be used on bare steel?

You always want to use a primer on all paint jobs.

This should work well for you. I would just aways make sure to wipe up spills.

Probably but it may be a good idea to put a sealer over it if you are worried about it.

How many spray cans would it take to cover a 1944 willys?

I would really recommend going to a gallon and use a spray gun.

I have 48 Cj2a do you have to remove transfer case from jeep to install this overdrive kit

No, it installs on the access cover on the back, drivers side of the transfer case. You do not need to remove.

I have had good results using a local MAACO shop, but they won't use "outside paint". However, I would like to have a couple of OD lusterless spray cans for touch-up, or to paint various accessories for my '60 CJ3b. Is there a paint code for the spray cans that they could match?

We dont have a code you could get locally on this. We have it specially mixed for us to the original color spec.

Is there an overdrive unit that will fit a 1961 FC-150? Also, does it matter if the drivetrain is original, but the motor is a gm 6 cyl. conversion? Thanks.

Yes you could. It is what was originally used on all Military vehicles.

Is your OD green spray paint good for the use on engines?

Worked on mine fine. No problems with heat, except on the manifold. I did of course prime it.

It is not engine enamel. However people do use it on the engines all the time.
