Part # C637

Rear Axle Shaft Puller

This tool is used to remove the tapered rear axle shaft, axle bearing cone and axle bearing cup as an assembly with a heavy duty steel drum and heavy duty nuts and washers to slowly pull the axle shaft from the axle housing.

This kit comes complete with the steel drum, 1",  7/8" and 3/4" axle nuts, 1", 7/8" and 3/4" grade 8 thick flat washers and grade 8 spacer bolts and nuts.

Once the rear wheel brake parts, brake backing plate and axle shaft bearing retainer have been removed, the drum is slipped over the axle shaft and seated against the axle housing flange. The thick, wide flat washer is installed along with the axle nut and with the use of the correct wrench, the nut is tightened. Usually the axle shaft, bearing cone and cup will pull out with just a few turns of the axle nut.

Will this puller also work with a Dana 30 tapered axle? My vehicle is a '67 Jeepster convertible

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
I believe the thread count is the same.

Is there a video showing how to use this tool? Thank you

Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It basically just threads on. Email Jason@kaiserwillys.com to help.

How do you keep the axle shaft from spinning while you are tightening the axle nut.

Thanks!
Willys Jeep Parts Tech:
It puts enough pressure to keep from spinning. It doesn't take very many turns to get it to pop out anyway.
