Does your heat shield, part number 800027, have asbestos applied to one side, as originally? I’m hoping that that’s what the white material in the picture is. Thank you.
Its not asbestos but made to look like it.
How imperative is this heat shield? I have a 48 CJ-2A that didn't have one when I disassembled it. Is it a brake fluid concern? I plan on using DOT 4 brake fluid that should be decently resistant to heat. My only concern is my master cylinder has a plastic filler cap. Recommend the heat shield?
They were original but most people don't have them because they go missing thru the years. We typically just use DOT 3 fluid.
