I own a 1949 Willy's CJ3A. It was purchased in 1949 by my parents. I have the original Title and Bill of Sale. The title is in my dad's name and I have to put it in mine to sell the jeep. The problem is, the original S/N plate came off and I have not been able to locate it. Will your S/N data plate have the S/N and will it pass vin inspection? The S/N is 11119. I am looking at a Jeep pickup. Based on what you say in the questions on this page, it is a 1946-1948. (square instrument cluster, split window, long trim down middle of hood, "jeep truck" on hood, 9 slot grill, etc...) there isn't a VIN# on the firewall, or down by the drivers side seat. No engine# behind the water pump. The owner has a title for it but says it is a 1953. I'm afraid the title is not for this vehicle. Is there anywhere else (hidden) places I could find the VIN#? The truck is almost rust free and in great shape. I'd like to buy it but afraid of the VIN/title differences. Thanks, John Morris

Restoring a 72 cj5. Vin plate is a Washington state vin plate as it is a salvaged title. Do you have one that will work. As I was told that some 1972 cj5’s had actual vin plates from 1971 as the factory was using their inventory up?

I just purchased a cj2 with a Wyoming title stating it is 1946 model year. The only number i can find is on the drivers frame rail below the firewall. It is " MA92163". The seller replaced the tub with a fiberglass tub so no tag on the firewall. Is there a second vin number anywhere else on the frame? California DMV says there has to be two vin locations for it to be titled in Ca. I did order your vin plate just incase I'll need it. Thanks...-Rich

Earlier you indicated ID was tag on top right cowel (mine's missing) and top right frame rail. Is the one on the frame rail visible with body on? The jeep I just purchased was supposed to be a 1951 CJ3A.

Does the plate comes with rivets and where about near the air filter does it go? do you have a picture or descriptive of distances from the side and upper part of the body near the filter?

Have 1948 Willy's CJ2A, with serial number 162331 as shown on the plate on the firewall of the passenger side. My dad had this Jeep for at least 50 years, and passed recently. I am going to the DMV to get the title transferred over to me, but I notice that the VIN on the title shows J174119. I have a jeep titled 1950 with a vin number 3520943 which is the number on the water pump boss plate. The data plate on passenger side under hood has a serial number of 12736. It has a drivers side gas cap, tailgate, spare tire on passenger side toward the back and looks like the original paint was light green and has brackets on the body behind the driver for an ax or something. I think it maybe around 1946. Can you help?
