I’ve read 2 Q&A’s about piñon shaft oil seal and gaskets - but it’s not clear that both are required with a new style piñon oil seal. Wish it said that the gasket was required when I bought the seal. And what about the oil slinger? Where does that go

Alot of people do without the gasket since the seals are now neoprene but they are originally there.

I have a 1946 willys cj2a, I have replaced the pinion shaft oil seal twice, but it still leakes. do I need to replace the gasket also? and if so where does it go?

Willys Tech:
It is probably your yoke that has a wear pattern cut into it. That is probably the problem. I would check it.

For the Pinion Shaft, shouldn't there be a complete Oil Seal and not just the gasket ?
